{"id":746,"date":"2022-02-01T10:58:10","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T10:58:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/?p=741"},"modified":"2022-02-11T11:12:35","modified_gmt":"2022-02-11T11:12:35","slug":"provision-an-expressroute-circuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/?p=746","title":{"rendered":"Provision a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute circuit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this lab, you will create an ExpressRoute circuit using the Azure portal and the Azure Resource Manager deployment model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image1.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this lab, you will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Task 1: Create and provision an ExpressRoute circuit<\/li><li>Task 2: Retrieve your Service key<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prerequisites for this labs :&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/azure.microsoft.com\/en-us\/free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Azure Account<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Task 1: Create and provision an ExpressRoute circuit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>From a browser, navigate to the <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.azure.com\/\">Azure portal<\/a> and sign in with your Azure account.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[!Important]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your ExpressRoute circuit is billed from the moment a service key is issued. Ensure that you perform this operation when the connectivity provider is ready to provision the circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"2\"><li>On the Azure portal menu, select <strong>+ Create a resource<\/strong>. Select <strong>Networking<\/strong>, and then select <strong>ExpressRoute<\/strong>, as shown in the following image. If ExpressRoute does not appear in the list, use <strong>Search the marketplace<\/strong> to search for it:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image2.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the <strong>Create ExpressRoute<\/strong> page, provide the <strong>Resource Group<\/strong>, <strong>Region<\/strong>, and <strong>Name<\/strong> for the circuit with the following: ExceedlabsResourceGroup, East US, TestERCircuit. Then select <strong>Next: Configuration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image3.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you are filling in the values on this page, make sure that you specify the correct SKU tier (Local, Standard, or Premium) and data metering billing model (Unlimited or Metered).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image4.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Port type determines if you are connecting to a service provider or directly into Microsoft\u2019s global network at a peering location.<\/li><li>Create new or import from classic determines if a new circuit is being created or if you are migrating a classic circuit to Azure Resource Manager.<\/li><li>Provider is the internet service provider who you will be requesting your service from.<\/li><li>Peering Location is the physical location where you are peering with Microsoft.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image5.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[!Important]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Peering Location indicates the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/azure\/expressroute\/expressroute-locations\">physical location<\/a> where you are peering with Microsoft. This is not linked to \u201cLocation\u201d property, which refers to the geography where the Azure Network Resource Provider is located. While they are not related, it is a good practice to choose a Network Resource Provider geographically close to the Peering Location of the circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>SKU<\/strong> determines whether an ExpressRoute local, ExpressRoute standard, or an ExpressRoute premium add-on is enabled. You can specify <strong>Local<\/strong> to get the local SKU, <strong>Standard<\/strong> to get the standard SKU or <strong>Premium<\/strong> for the premium add-on. You can change the SKU to enable the premium add-on.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[!Important]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cannot change the SKU from Standard\/Premium to Local.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Billing model<\/strong> determines the billing type. You can specify <strong>Metered<\/strong> for a metered data plan and <strong>Unlimited<\/strong> for an unlimited data plan. You can change the billing type from <strong>Metered<\/strong> to <strong>Unlimited<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[!Important]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You cannot change the type from Unlimited to Metered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Allow classic operation<\/strong> will allow classic virtual networks to be link to the circuit.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Task 2: Retrieve your Service key<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>You can view all the circuits that you created by selecting <strong>All services &gt; Networking &gt; ExpressRoute circuits<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image6.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image6.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All ExpressRoute circuits created in the subscription will appear here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image7.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image7.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The circuit page displays the properties of the circuit. The service key appears in the service key field. Your service provider will need the Service Key to complete the provisioning process. The service key is specific to your circuit. <strong>You must send the service key to your connectivity provider for provisioning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image8.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>On this page, <strong>Provider status<\/strong> gives you the current state of provisioning on the service-provider side. <strong>Circuit status<\/strong> provides you the state on the Microsoft side.<\/li><li>When you create a new ExpressRoute circuit, the circuit is in the following state:<ul><li>Provider status: Not provisioned<\/li><li>Circuit status: Enabled<\/li><li>The circuit changes to the following state when the connectivity provider is currently enabling it for you:<ul><li>Provider status: Provisioning<\/li><li>Circuit status: Enabled<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>To use the ExpressRoute circuit, it must be in the following state:<ul><li>Provider status: Provisioned<\/li><li>Circuit status: Enabled<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>You should periodically check the provisioning status and the state of the circuit status.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/192.168.8.123\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image9.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exceedthecloud.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/image9.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Congratulations!
