How to Create a Strong Password Policy for AWS Account

Setting the password policy for our AWS Account to allow you to specify the password complexity for your IAM Users

Prerequisite: Having a valid AWS Account (Follow the step in this link to create an AWS Account) How to Sign Up for a new Amazon Web Services Account

Sign into your AWS Account as a Root User

Type IAM in the search box / Select IAM

Select Account Setting

Click on Edit / Password policy

Verify if the IAM default password policy is conformed for your organization, otherwise click on Custom to specify a password policy.

In this case we will turn on password expiration to 120 days and prevent the reused of the last 10 passwords

New password policy will impact any new user creation and all existing users changing their passwords

Click on Set custom

Confirm the password policy updated
